Fashion is skin deep, Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing review.

I want to apologize for the lack of updates regarding the blog! There has been a month of debating on my part if I should move to the ever popular Tumblr for blog reading access, but I have decided to stay where I'm comfortable until (wishful thinking) I gain more exposure on the blog circuit.

For those of you following me on Twitter, you will notice that I have been tweeting fanatically about the Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing system. Truth be told, I have been wanting to buy this product for months. I first saw it while browsing Sephora, and immediately wanted it after several of the fantastic reviews on the product. My skin has been in a black hole for a few months now (I'm blaming it on stress and the like), so after several products and several reactions of frustrations afterward, this was my last resort. A week or so ago, I decided to splurge and grab myself the Classic system in pink to support Breast Cancer.

Excuse the quality of the pictures! I am using our Sony HiD Media recorder, and it's only 5.0 megapixels.

Everything that it comes with is shown here when you order it from the Clarisonic site. You will see that they are very giving when you first purchase your system and give you three travel sizes of their three cleansers. I'm not sure what the difference is between all three of them, but I decided to start off by using the white bottle which they also included in their largest size, along with an extra brush head and travel bag, for free. Did I mention that they also offer free personalization of it? I have never been happier to my name etched into anything before.

The one thing that I noticed in most of the reviews I have read is that they don't show or describe the consistency of the cleansers. For me, this is a big deal because I want to know that I am truly getting what I am paying for. As you can see, it's a thicker cleanser, almost a cream in consistency, and does not foam. It says to apply 'generously' so I thought that was my generous amount. I ended up applying another dollop worth to my face and neck. It does say that you don't have to use the Clarisonic cleansers with it and can use any non-abrasive cleaner with it. I suspect that the best results are used with the cleaners that are provided.

One of the features that I love about this system is that you can customize how long you want to clean your skin. The device is automatically programmed to one minute of cleansing and beeps in increments of 20-20-10-10 seconds for your forehead, nose+mouth+chin, and cheeks respectively. Another is that you can use this in the shower or tub! The handle is completely waterproof, however, the charging dock is not so don't even put it near water. I was so in awe of how it felt that I changed the setting to two minutes and continued to clean. I didn't notice any significant difference in my skin until I rinsed the rest of the residue off and began to dry my face. I noticed immediately after I was done that my pores looked smaller and that a lot of my problem areas on my cheeks looked as if they had thinned out. I should warn you that you WILL break out after the use of this product but do not let that discourage you! It's not any reaction to the deep cleaning other than all of the dirt that was in your pores coming to the surface to be cleaned. My face broke out seconds after I was done washing my face, but with regular use, I suspect that this will diminish into the smaller pores and clearer skin that the brand promotes.

Overall, I am impressed with my first use of it. For the price tag, I was expecting something amazing, and it delivered. I thought that it was generous of the site to offer free shipping and the free gift with your first purchase of their product. Now would be the time to buy one if any!

Overall: A-
