Chanel Haute Couture 2010.. Pastries?

Of course has done it again! Karl Lagerfeld surprised me (and most people) by taking Chanel in a new direction with colors this year. Taking a drastic turn from his all black and white presentation of Haute Couture last year, his palette was based mainly with various shades of pastel pinks, blues, and yellows with a delicate touch. Every hue reminded me of pastries; cupcakes to be exact. That must be the fatty in me observing and speaking.

 

His inspiration was said to be "neon-baroque" which I oddly see in the tailoring of the shorts on the tweed suit combo shown above. It reminds me of Henry the V honestly, and I'm not sure I like the shorts as much as I like his dresses. His mix of metallic silvers and colors brings a fun and flirty edge to the otherwise classic pieces. I am thrilled that Karl is mixing in colors this season! I love pastel colors in general, and there are enough pieces with pink that I will still stare longingly at websites wishing I could afford these masterpieces. Every single model had the same curved ankle boots paired with metallic finger gloves (obviously Karl's touch).

It just looks like something that I would be satisfied with walking down the street wearing. The detailing on the dress is marvelous and not to mention I want those shoes. He can keep the gloves.

 Hello, fashion hopefuls!

A new fashion blog pops up on the internet every other day (believe me, I went through many cool blog names that were taken and unfortunately abandoned), and this one is no different. I am a twenty-one year old girl that lives at the beach in Delaware, far from the fashion hubcaps of the world. But I do have a passion for fashion, and I know that people need a spin on fashion.

What better time to start blogging with Paris Haute Couture Week is upon us? Expect a post highlighting some of my favorite pieces tomorrow.
